My biography and past work experience, or things I’ve seen and done, up until the present

 

Bio/CV

  • Born in Singapore (1993)

  • Lived in Hong Kong for a couple of years (1995-1996)

  • Primary school at Garden International School, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (1997-2007)

    • Started studying art, music, dance, and drama which helped inform her later practice.

  • High school at Middlesex School, Concord MA, USA (2007-2011)

    • Graduated with High Honours.

    • Received the Mary S. Adams Bowl for important contributions to the school.

    • Co-head of various extra circulars like: Spectrum (the diversity club), the Short Story Society, Divine Visions (the step team), the Dance team, the GSA, and more.

    • Studied abroad in the south of France in Summer of 2008, at Cow House Studio in Ireland, early Summer of 2010, and Brown University late Summer of 2010.

  • BFA at NYU, Steinhardt (2011-2015)

    • Graduated Cum Laude and on the Dean’s List with University Honours.

    • Winner of USAO (undergraduate student art organisation) Open Studios Event art card design in 2011 and 2012.

    • Studied abroad at NYU Berlin for a semester in 2014, and took NYU Summer food and music journalism courses in Summer of 2014.

    • Member of the NYU Women’s Choir, and HiveMind, an NYU arts collective - leading to curating a show.

    • Worked as a Studio Monitor for 3 years assisting teachers and students in the wood shop.

  • While at NYU exhibiting and curating shows (2011-2015)

    • One Month Remains [let's crochet!] group show, curated and organized by Keith Mayerson, NYU Barney Building, 2011.

    • Out of Order solo site-specific installation, in NYU's Open Studios event. (2nd floor bathroom stalls), 2012.

    • Treemendous Project, online and city-wide outdoor group project dedicated to artists' responses to Hurricane Sandy’s effect upon the city as a whole, 2013.

    •  Sporty Vibes, group show during NYU's Open Studios event, 2013.

    • Art as a Language, group show during NYU's Open Studios, curated by Kirby Gookin, 2013.

    • between spaces, two-person show in the Rosenberg gallery, with Dorothy Lam;ZhiHong, 2014.

    • New Sights New Noise, group curated show with Jonathan Berger and former R.E.M. Frontman, Micheal Stipe, at 80WSE gallery, 2014.

    • Welcome to Paradise,  two-person installation show, with Nora Chuff, in the Rosenberg gallery, 2014.

    • the Other, individually curated show, sponsored by HiveMind, an arts collective, 2015.

    • Absence/Presence, an IFA (Institute of fine arts) curated group show, had three pieces included in the Commons gallery, 2015.

    • On Air, group senior thesis show, in both the Rosenberg and Commons galleries, detailing the input and output of a fictional TV station: BFA. (video pieces contributed: Have a Nice Day, and Suria Park), 2015.

  • Worked at Sotheby’s Hong Kong as an Assistant Registrar/Art Handler (2015 - 2017)

    • Handled the EWAT (watches) department from 2016-2017.

    • Handled the ECWA (Chinese ceramics) department for 2017 until leaving.

  • Worked as a Subtitle Editor/Copy Writer for video works by Artist Wong Wai Yin (2016)

    • For Without Trying (2016) at Spring Workshop, Hong Kong, with support from the Hong Kong Arts Development Board,

      worked closely with a translator to refine the English subtitles used in video works (credited as Elizabeth Wee).

  • Left Sotheby’s, moved to Singapore and began working freelance (2017-present)

    • Began freelancing in Graphic Design, Video Editing, and Illustration.

    • Began to create art in earnest (2018-present), see here.

  • Started working as Chief of Design at Kitchen Hoarder (2017-present)

    • Created logo and general branding design for Kitchen Hoarder, see here.

    • Worked as an Art Director and assisted on some shoots.

  • Started working with Sarah Huang Benjamin (2017 - present)

    • Created new personal logo and branding elements for social media digital marketing, see here.

    • Assisted with photographing, filming, and editing social media content, see here.

    • Assisted as a food assistant/food prep, art director/food stylist, on multiple shoots.

  • Completed the General Assembly Visual Design online certificate course (2018)

  • Volunteered as a Copywriter for an Auctioneer Script and the Artwork Description for SAMH (2018)

    • For Hearts for Minds, the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Singapore Association for Mental Health (SAMH), I donated time and labour to copywrite for their fundraising art auction.

  • Participated in Leevan Art Fair 2019, Shenzhen China (2019)

    • Invited to showcase limited edition prints in a solo room.

  • University of the Arts London - Shared Campus Summer School, online (2020)

    • Certified in completing the Hacking Global Pop Icons course with UAL and Zurich University of the Arts.

  • Graduated from the MA in Fine Arts program at LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore (2020-2021)

    • Graduated with a MAFA degree in 2021 in partnership with Goldsmiths, University of London.

  • Student Representative of the 2021 MAFA cohort at LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore

    • Served as the student representative throughout the MAFA program, leading initiatives to better the school environment in many faculty meetings as well as liaising with outside parties on behalf of my fellow students.

  • Attended the IPS Women’s Conference, Singapore (2021)

    • Attended as a representative of LASALLE College of the Arts.

  • Executive/Creative Assistant to Sarah Huang Benjamin (2021 - present)

    • Handling administrative tasks and juggling multiple projects under the purview of Sarah Huang Benjamin, content creator, TV host and chef. Shooting video and taking photographs in a variety of settings for social media and other avenues. Adapting to all manner of projects and creatively problem solving when necessary.
